Wiccan Clothing
Wiccan Clothing – What to Wear…!
It is a matter of personal preference what you choose to wear, and here are your options.
The clothing you currently have in your wardrobe right now will be adequate if you wish, there is no pressing need to buy anything specific at all. If you are comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, then that is acceptable. There is no Wiccan clothing policy at all!
However, historically, pagan and Wicca worship has always been practiced in a manner known as skyclad. This means being dressed in nothing but the sky, or naked.
Some of the Wiccan do practice and worship skyclad. This is not sexually orientated but a purely natural state, the form which nature has given us, to be celebrated and not hidden.
Obviously this will not appeal to many modest people as we are conditioned by society and the laws of the land to appear clothed, at least in public. Lots of people do not feel comfortable naked when they are alone either! Clothing is a part of human psyche and we identify with our clothes and adopt different styles to fit in with others of our kind.
It is this way with Wiccan clothing. However, a witch would normally choose to have at least one robe. This would be a hooded robe and can be an item of colourful satin beauty or a very sombre plain cotton or wool affair. Black clothing is worn by some but has the unfortunate association with satanic worship and it is probably advisable to choose another dark colour, such as green, brown or navy blue robes if you like dark tones. Black does seem to be predominantly popular though. A coven will sometimes have a dress or color code which could be mandatory.
Underneath, you should ideally be naked. This style of dress is for ceremony and worship, you do not need to wear robes for shopping or to the hairdresser, unless you really want to of course! Again, you must not feel pressure to change your mode of dress at all, for any reason, this is all a matter of personal choice and preference.
Wearing Wiccan clothing can give more weight to ceremony and worship. If you are barefoot, robed and naked underneath whilst at your altar it will seem far more fitting and natural than it would with your everyday ‘normal’ clothes.
There are some wonderful robes available such as the examples from The Magic Moon, shown on this site , plus sarongs and witchy tees, but if cost is an issue, you can always start sewing and make your own robe!

can u use certain colours for the coven you are in?
Since what you wear depends on the wearer,i will then try out the wiccan cloth. It really looks good although i don’t know whether one can move in it in town without causing attraction from other people who may not have any idea about the fabric. Thanks for the blog
